Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern
Kaitlyn practices therapy as a journey you and the therapist take together. She believes that positive mental growth occurs through pain, trauma, and discomfort, and that people are most susceptible to growth when struggling. Individuals suffering through depression, anxiety or a toxic relationship all have the great potential to transform their pain into something beautiful and strong. As a therapist, Kaitlyn is here to help facilitate your personal journey to growth.
As a Marriage and Family Therapist, Kaitlyn specializes in working with families, couples, adolescents and adult individuals. Kaitlyn caters her therapeutic style and theory to each client, and most frequently uses Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Existential Therapy, Humanism, and Gottman’s Couples Therapy.
Kaitlyn commonly works with members of the LGBT community and works from a transgender and gender-nonbinary focus. She is also a sex-positive therapist who specializes in working with individuals and couples who practice non-traditional relationships such as BDSM, polyamory, open relationships, kinks and fetishes.
In the past, Kaitlyn has served as a sexual assault victim advocate at the Tampa Bay Crisis Center where she acted as the first response to survivors of sexual assault. She provided crisis intervention and resources to those in need. She continues to apply her passion of helping sexual assault survivors as a therapist certified in trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy.
Kaitlyn is a Florida State Registered Marriage and Family Therapist Intern. Kaitlyn graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology. She went on to complete her Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy at the University of Central Florida where she treated a wide variety of individuals with symptoms of depression, anxiety and trauma as part of her clinical internship. She has also completed Gottman’s Couple’s Therapy level one training.
During her free time, Kaitlyn enjoys table-top games with friends, trying out new forms of self-care such as yoga and meditation, and discovering new forms of creating art.
