Licensed Mental Health Counselor

As the founder of Life Enhancement Counseling Services which provides individual, couples, marriage and family counseling, Yolanda believes that each person’s life has meaning, which when realized creates a sense of peace, balance and purpose. As a psychotherapist, her work is motivated by a genuine desire to help others resolve various problems that cause strained relationships and feelings of unhappiness, disconnectedness, frustration or a general lack of purpose. Yolanda has been working in the field of mental health for more than 20 years. She is passionate about the life change counseling brings and is honored to work with you to achieve your goals.

During counseling, Yolanda offers a culturally sensitive, safe and supportive space, free of judgment, in which you will be treated with respect, empathy, and dignity. The client-therapist relationship and anything discussed in therapy is confidential. Clients are encouraged to discuss their concerns in order to become empowered, grow emotionally, gain insight and self-awareness, resolve past issues and learn the skills necessary to create a fulfilling life. Yolanda’s eclectic therapeutic approach is collaborative, insight-oriented, integrative and holistic. She has trained in the Gottman Method of couples therapy and completed all 3 levels. Yolanda has also completed a training Externship in Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT). She commonly works with clients experiencing anxiety, relationship issues, depression, communication issues, grief, loss, adjustment, trauma and stress among many other topics. There are a variety of approaches and techniques that are proven effective and treatment will be tailored to your specific situation.

Yolanda has worked in diverse mental health settings, including community agencies, psychiatric offices, hospices, hospitals, and private practices. She is a National Certified Counselor, Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida, Qualified Supervisor for Registered Mental Health Counselor Interns, Certified Prepare/Enrich Program Facilitator and is also Certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy. Yolanda earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and a minor in Business Administration from Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. She continued on at Rollins, earning a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling.

In her time off, Yolanda enjoys reading, finding a variety of ways to relax and practice self-care. She also spends much of her time exploring and creating.
