Premarital Therapy
Premarital therapy helps you learn more about yourself and your partner and also aids in preparing both of you for challenges you may face in your marriage.
Premarital counseling stresses learning and practicing good communication skills. As good communication is established, couples can focus on family of origin issues, current and potential stressors and setting goals. Other issues which may be addressed include understanding personality types, identifying strengths and weaknesses and sexual issues.
Some of the topics discussed in premarital therapy include communication, finances, family of origin issues, religion and spirituality issues, children, how to identify and manage stressors, conflict resolution, goal setting, sexuality issues and understanding and accepting personality differences.
Yolanda is a facilitator for PREPARE/ENRICH, which is a customized couple assessment that identifies strength and growth areas. This is one of the most widely used programs for premarital counseling.
