A Case of the Blues, or Something More?

Published in the Southwest Orlando Bulletin 5/2013

Everyone has a bad day once in a while. But what happens when a bad day turns into several weeks or months? How can a person tell if he has a case of the blues, or something more, like depression?

Divorces and breakups, bereavement, job loss, financial hardships and many other life stressors affect people’s mental health and overall mood. When facing these kinds of stressors, it is important for people to monitor themselves for symptoms of depression. If someone feels down for two weeks or more, has trouble concentrating, has changes in sleeping and eating patterns, cries often or experiences feelings of guilt or worthlessness, he may have depression.

A counselor can help individuals determine if they are depressed, as well as identify ways to support them on their journey to healing and happiness. Please call Life Enhancement Counseling Services today at 407-443-8862 to speak with a counselor.
